Dr. Friedrich Schubert is the founder of SCHUBERT RECHTSANWÄLTE. He specializes in the following fields of laws: leasing, banking, insolvency, company law, acquisitions, foundations and real estate.

Dr. Schubert was born in 1965 in the city of Vienna, Austria. After completing his studies of jurisprudence with a master’s degree in 1990 and a doctor’s degree in 1992, Dr. Schubert started his career as an assistant professor. At Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration he worked with the institute for civil law, commercial law and securities. At Vienna University he worked for the prestigious institutes for civil law and proceedings under the civil law, respectively.

After spending the required year at court and after being a trainee lawyer, the aspiring solicitor took up as company lawyer with the leading Austrian leasing firm of that time. There, he gathered extensive experience in the laws on leasing, thus making SCHUBERT RECHTSANWÄLTE the leading law firm dealing with the legal side of leasing.

In 1995, Dr. Schubert founded SCHUBERT RECHTSANWÄLTE – then a one-man firm without a secretary. Today, the firm has more than 30 employees. Dr. Schubert primarily deals with contractual matters, and he is also an experienced trial lawyer and commercial adviser. In addition, he holds a number of positions on foundation boards.

Besides his activities as a solicitor, the enthusiastic lawyer has been teaching for years. The topics of his seminars range from leasing, banking (including special treatment of ailing loans) to laws on insolvency and real estate.

His clients especially appreciate the fact that Dr. Schubert is unfailingly there for them. As his clients are entrepreneurs, he has to act promptly in order to relieve them of the pressure weighing on them by providing the legal and commercial expertise they need.

He masters this task with a high degree of competence in his field – and with the joy he finds in jurisprudence. Dr. Schubert doesn’t give up on the most difficult challenges until he has found the pertinent solution, and his clients honour this by being extremely loyal to his company. Accordingly, more than 90% of our annual business volume is generated by clients who have been with SCHUBERT RECHTSANWÄLTE for more than 10 years.

Mag. Lukas Schubert combines sound expertise in business law with extensive litigation experience and a clear understanding of his clients’ entrepreneurial objectives. His practice focuses in particular on leasing law, real estate law and corporate law, as well as on the judicial and out-of-court enforcement of complex claims.

Mag. Schubert completed his law studies at the University of Vienna’s Faculty of Law in 2013 with distinction. During his legal education, he gained international experience through his participation in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. This sharpened his ability to present clear arguments, conduct negotiations with precision and think strategically. In 2021, Mag. Schubert passed the Austrian bar examination with distinction.

In addition to his work as an attorney, he has completed further training in real estate valuation. He has also been active in real estate development for more than a decade. As a result, he understands real estate not only from a legal advisory perspective, but also from an entrepreneurial point of view. Legal questions are therefore not assessed in isolation, but always with regard to their wider economic context.

In his day-to-day practice, Mag. Schubert conducts numerous court proceedings and represents his clients’ interests with determination and strategic foresight. He places particular emphasis on identifying legal risks at an early stage, precisely assessing available courses of action and developing solutions that are not only legally sound, but also economically viable.

Mag. Leitner studied law at the University of Vienna from 2003 to 2007. After completing his judicial clerkship year he worked as a trainee lawyer for a renowned Viennese law firm before he joined SCHUBERT RECHTSANWÄLTE in November 2011.

His fields of expertise comprise procedural law and general civil law. By virtue of the consultation office opened in Waidhofen/Ybbs in 2016, Mag. Matthias Leitner is able to offer the full range of legal advice for companies and private individuals both in Vienna and Lower and Upper Austria. This means that clients benefit from the know-how and infrastructure of a Viennese commercial law firm combined with the personal connection between Mag. Leitner and his home region.

Mag. Leitner listens, comprehends fast, works target-oriented and acts according to the motto that every client has the right of the best possible solution of his/her problem. Mag. Leitner’s top priority is to respond individually to each client and their situation.

Mag. Leitner advises his clients in all legal matters encountered in daily life, particularly with regard to asserting warranty claims and claims for damages, contractual arrangements in the fields of family law, real estate law and company law, and in the judicial enforcement of the rights of his clients. To ensure that his clients receive the very best level of service, Mag. Leitner utilizes his extensive negotiating experience and vigorously pursues the claims of his clients if it is not possible to achieve an acceptable out-of-court solution.

A strong base in the Netherlands and in Austria

Menno Schmidt has been augmenting our team as a cooperation partner since March 2013. He is a Dutch citizen and practices as a lawyer in both Vienna and Amsterdam.

Menno Schmidt is predominantly active in the cross-border market between Austria and the Netherlands and assists Dutch companies and private individuals in Austria.

Mag. Scheyda Shafieian-Schneider graduated with honors from the University of Vienna with a degree in law in April 2018.

During her studies, she gained practical experience at several renowned law firms in Vienna. She broadened her international perspective through a study abroad program at the London School of Economics and a several-month internship at the Foreign Trade Center of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Manhattan, New York.

After graduating, she worked at a leading Vienna-based commercial law firm in the areas of data protection and banking & finance. She has been part of our team since September 2019.

Mag. Shafieian-Schneider primarily advises and represents clients in commercial law matters. In addition, she assists private individuals with general civil law issues with the same diligence and strategic clarity.

In December 2021, she successfully passed the bar exam in the district of the Vienna Higher Regional Court. She has been practicing as an attorney since February 2026, following her return from maternity leave.

Her advice is characterized by a business-oriented approach, clear structure, and solution-oriented thinking. She provides a reliable basis for decision-making and guides her clients purposefully through complex legal challenges.
